HYPER JAPAN 2011

Japanese Maid Cafe Experience

Japanese Maid Cafe Experience

Calling all you Lords and Ladies...HYPER JAPAN is proud to present a Japanese cultural phenomenon that's not to be missed: the Japanese Maid Cafe Experience.

The Maid Cafe is a Japanese entertainment phenomenon. They originated in Akihabara, Japan's "City of Otaku", catering for the hardcore fans of anime, manga and video games that gathered in the area. Maid Cafes are so-called because the waitresses dress in a stylised form of the traditional French maid: dress, apron, stocking and a bow or ribbon in the hair. Service is intended to make the customer feel as if he or she is being served by a committed servant in his or her own home. That's why you'll be greeted with the words, Okaerinasai, goshujinsama (for a boy)/okusama (for a girl). Okaerinasai is a term used to greet people when they return to their own homes.

HYPER JAPAN's Maid Cafe will be a collaboration between maid★planet and HYPER JAPAN. Whether you're an all-out otaku or just a curious customer, pop into our Maid Cafe and let the maids wait on you as if you were Lord or Lady of the manor! Find the Maid Cafe on the Lower Ground Floor of Olympia Two throughout all three days of the event!

About maid★planet

60 million light years away from the Earth, deep within the Virgo Cluster, floats Planet Maid. A group of maids, newly graduated from Maid School, leave the planet for a celebration trip aboard the MARDIS (Maid And Relative Dimension In Space). But an accident sees them crash land in Glastonbury, England, Planet Earth. Abandoning hope of returning to Planet Maid, the girls decide to try their luck working as maids in London. Now, as maid★planet, they are here to bring a touch of maid magic to the lives of lords and ladies in the UK. The maid★planet members are dedicated to recreating an authentic Maid Cafe experience. Pop in to enjoy wotagei performances (a kind of dancing) and to play games with the maids, as well as enjoy the food and drink.
