HYPER JAPAN Festival 2015, Day 1!

Friday’s HYPER JAPAN Festival session kicked off in style, with the fantastic assortment of Japanese gaming, food, shopping, music and entertainment that visitors have come to expect from all our events!

This year Nintendo have really pulled out the stops in bringing their biggest, freshest and most exciting games to our HYPER Game & Anime Park! Legions of visitors have been fighting monsters, flying around in Fox’s Arwing, and painting the town every colour under the sun in Splatoon! The special 30th anniversary Super Mario area has also seen fans of the mustachioed plumber brothers enjoy the Super Mario Maker Quickfire Challenge, plus lots of rare Mario goodies. Across the aisle, Bandai Namco brought their latest titles such as Godzilla, Tales of Zestiria, and Naruto.

IMG_2617_LightOur dedicated meet and greet area has been flooded with eager fans awaiting the chance to see their favourite performer up close and in person! This is a once in a lifetime chance to meet superstars all the way from Japan, so make sure you come along to catch huge names like (12:15 on Saturday/12:00 on Sunday), Tokyo Girls’ Style (14:00 on Saturday and Sunday) and Hirokatsu Kihara (09:30 on Saturday/09:45 on Sunday) who will be meeting and greeting their hearts out this weekend!

The Festival Stage also saw a super special talk by the gorgeous ladies of, who answered a selection of questions! The audience was able to see a whole other side of the idol group, as they talked about their lives in detail, and there were a few hilarious moments too! Those of you who missed this intimate session, fret not! will be returning to our HYPER Live Stage tomorrow and on Sunday, and will be appearing for meet and greets as well! So there’s no excuse not to get some Dempa-action this weekend.

Finally, we had a masterful demonstration of how to make Hello Kitty bentos! A couple of lucky audience members were selected to participate alongside Japan Centre chef Kinu Yukawa, and did pretty well with their first attempt! If you too want to become an overnight bento master, head over early to her next demonstrations on the Festival Stage tomorrow morning and again on Sunday!

We just can’t wait to see what tomorrow has to bring! Speaking of Saturday, there are an EXTREMELY LIMITED number of tickets available as of this writing; We don’t want to have to turn people away at the door, so please consider Sunday instead, when many of our great guests will be returning, and all the same delicious food, amazing shopping and more will be there for your enjoyment.
