The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal will be holding Brewery Bunkasai, a festival dedicated to Japanese anime, manga and films, from Sunday 8 July. There will be a variety of anime/manga related activities, film screenings and Japanese food.

Now in its fourth year, Brighton Japan is returning for 2012. Brighton Japan is an eight day Japanese festival with events taking place in Brighton's most prestigious venues from Friday 22 June – Sunday 1 July.
Brighton Japan is the brainchild of Brighton’s premier Japanese restaurant, Moshi Moshi and is supported by Asahi.

The festival will host many exciting events throughout the week, including two riotous matsuri (street festivals), quality evening performances at HŌMU, the specially created home for the festival in Bartholomew square, and a film festival at the Duke of York's Picturehouse.

Festival highlights include:

MOSHI MATSURI | 23rd-24th June    Free entry
Launching the Festival, the opening weekend will be a lively collection of Japanese music and performances, traditional children's games, workshops and street processions, as well as a profusion of shitamachi-style stalls selling all sorts of street food and Japanese goods.

HŌMU | 22nd June - 1st July     Ticketed – see website for events / prices
The place to be during the festival, HŌMU will feature exquisite and exciting evening events and performances throughout the week: The Paper Cinema; an exclusive screening of ‘The Ring’ (original version); a whiskey tasting night with the redoubtable Dave Broom, the Catalyst Club (Japanese edition), and another exhilarating outing of Tokyo Sounds – a showcase of new of Japanese music. Friday 29th also sees HŌMU turn into one-off Japanese themed Supper Club with CanTina.

A delirious and colourful celebration of all things anime, with cosplay contests, manga drawing and karaoke competitions galore.

HYPER JAPAN 2012 Spring exhibitor ICN Gallery is presenting a series of exhibitions that centres on the theme of ukiyo-e. "What is Ukiyo-e?" is running from 5 - 28 April and is the first in the series, serves as an introduction to ukiyo-e that will hopefully enable visitors to better understand its historical origins and influence on Japanese art.
