William is a fully qualified and insured coach (BKA Level 2) with many years experience in the classical Japanese weapon based martial arts of iaido and jodo. William competes at the highest levels, has represented Great Britain several times on the iaido and jodo national squads and has won medals at all levels (National, European and International). William runs Kashiwa Dojo in South West London, where the arts of iaido and jodo are studied under the auspices of the British Kendo Association (BKA), European Kendo Federation and the International Kendo Federation. William is currently the chairman for iaido in the BKA. The koryu, or old styles studied are Shinkage Ryu iaido (the only dojo in the UK) and Shindo Muso Ryu jodo.
Kashiwa Dojo will demonstrate some techniques in iaido and jodo and explain about the history and tradition of the arts and how they are preserved and passed on. They will show some basic fundamentals and explain the weapons and clothing, and then show some more advanced techniques from koryu or old styles.
