Who hasn’t heard of Mirai Suenaga? Originally created by Danny Choo back in 2007 as a mascot to prettify his website , Mirai Suenaga (pronounced “mee-rai soo-eh-na -gah”) has taken the world by storm and is now a massive global phenomenon in her own right!
This summer, HYPER JAPAN is proud to announce Mirai’s creater, Danny Choo, will be taking to the HYPER Theatre stage together with Mirai in all her glory!
Danny will be giving a series of talks on Japan from the viewpoint of a foreign national, and on starting your own business. As he’s been living and working in Japan since 1999… and oh did we mention he’s running his own company (rather successfully, we might add)… it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about the things he’ll be talking about.

PROFILE: DANNY CHOO
Originally from the UK, Danny Choo is a creator currently residing in Tokyo where he develops a line of fashion dolls called Smart Doll.
In his spare time he directs and produces a TV show called “Culture Japan” and also hosts various anime events around the world. Danny is also the creator of the Culture Japan character Mirai Suenaga who became a mascot character for Japan Tourism and made appearances in various anime and Japanese TV drama. Danny is also appointed by the Japanese government to be on various “Cool Japan” committees that focus on the dissemination and monetization of Japanese culture.Created by Danny Choo back in 2007, Mirai Suenaga is the mascot character for Culture Japan and heroine for the story Mirai Millennium.

Originally created with the purpose to prettify the website “dannychoo.com,” Mirai ended up turning out to be more than a website mascot and went on to collaborate with various anime and game companies such as Square Enix, Good Smile Company, Bushiroad, Ascii Media Works, King Records, Nitroplus and Isetan. In 2013, Mirai became an official mascot for Japan Tourism and in 2014 she became an official mascot for Malaysia Tourism.
