It’s been an unbelievably jam-packed day here, with not one, but two thrilling sessions of HYPER JAPAN Festival catering to visitors’ every Japan-related wish. All of our 3 stages have seen some truly sizzling performances, as befits this crazy summer heat, but luckily visitors were able to cool down with refreshing sakes and beers from our J-Bars, as well as frosty and delicious kaki-goori shaved ice. Our lovely HYPER Matsuri Garden outside the back of the HYPER LIVE building in particular is a lovely outdoor space to relax in with a cool drink!
The polished and pitch-perfect members of Tokyo Girls’ Style gave a fantastic performance on the HYPER Live Stage, and glow stick-waving fans responded to their energy with great enthusiasm! The girls will be returning tomorrow for what will undoubtedly be another smashing live concert at 12:45, and will also be interacting with fans in the meet and greet area, so don’t fret if you weren’t there today to witness the magic!
Bonafide rock gods YOSHIKI and TOSHI from the legendary visual kei group X JAPAN also gave an unforgettable performance to a packed-out crowd. If you weren’t able to get tickets for this extremely packed session, then head over to the X JAPAN booth tomorrow from 15:00-16:00pm, where YOSHIKI and TOSHI will be meeting fans and giving out high fives to those who buy tickets for their upcoming gig at Wembley Arena!
Other stage highlights included the COSParade and HYPER J-Style Collection Fashion Show, which both wowed crowds from very different communities! The COSParade saw some impressive outfits from a selection of popular anime! Meanwhile, lovers of Japanese street fashion were well satisfied with the range and quality of ensembles showcased by our models, as well as the surprise entrance from HYPER JAPAN guests Die Milch! Tomorrow there will be another mystery guest giving out prizes to fashionable audience members, so fashionistas should make sure to plant themselves at the front of the audience!
Anime buffs were also well catered for today, with our Attack on Titan giant head balloon attracting fans and cosplayers from far and wide. Well-known anime director Kobun Shizuno also made a much-anticipated appearance alongside his latest anime masterpiece, Knights of Sidonia, which was screening in our HYPER Theatre. In tomorrow’s Sunday session, he will be giving a separate talk on animation, so head to the second floor of the Live House to learn all about anime from the perspective of an industry insider.
Finally our Sake Experience and Sake Awards 2015 have seen another busy day, with over 30 different sakes from 11 Japanese breweries being sampled, enjoyed and voted on by appreciative participants. This truly is the only place where you can sample such a wide range of sakes, from traditional to light and sparkly, and even fruity! Sake lovers can purchase tickets from the O2 Box Office on the day, so feel free to head over, grab your mini sampling cup and delve into this unique and delicious area!
