Origami Workshop: Crane within a heart and special Valentine’s gift box with Alice Stern

Join Alice for this Valentine’s special origami workshop. You will learn how to make the very intricate and beautiful crane within a heart model and an origami box which can be used as a special gift box, a unique way to present a gift.

All attendees will receive a wide selection of Japanese origami papers, including plain, patterned and seasonal Japanese washi papers. You will also be provided with decorative materials such as cards to decorate with your origami pieces, adhesive gems and glu dots. You will also receive some beautiful handmade origami keepsakes from Alice, including mini Kawasaki roses!

All materials and decorative accessories will be provided and sent to you in advance of your workshop. HYPER JAPAN will send videos or tutorials about the pieces that you have made shortly after your workshop.

Workshop plan

Please be prepared 10 minutes before the workshop starts.

1.    Meet and greet. Introduction to basic origami and seasonal origami papers (included in your material pack).
2.    Making an origami box using washi and patterned papers.
3.    Making the intricate origami crane within a heart piece and suggestions on how to decorate this on a plain greeting card.
4.    Q&A time.

You will need scissors and a pencil for this workshop. It would be handy if you have a ruler.

I have run Alice Sushi Art for over 5 years after living in Japan for 2 years. I have experience in teaching all levels from very young children to adults and all with varying origami experience from beginner to advance. I am interested in origami installations and am currently completing one. I also have an online Etsy shop where I sell some of my handmade pieces.
