What is Jujutsu?

Forged over 500 years ago as the battle-tested grappling system of the legendary samurai, this comprehensive martial art integrates strikes, throws, and joint locks with traditional weaponry.
Rather than relying on brute force, jujutsu utilizes highly refined biomechanics and tactics to overcome opponents—even those bigger and stronger than you.
Modern arts like judo and aikido attribute their origins to this highly evolved system of combat, as their founders also practiced classical styles of jujutsu.

Jikan Kai Cultural Association

An East London martial arts community and proud member of the Japanese Budo Association (JBA) in Tokyo. They are one of the very few groups in Europe operating as a direct, authentic offshoot of classical Japanese jujutsu.

Led by our Chief Instructor, Sensei Jacob—a British Army veteran who trained and qualified directly in Hiroshima—we bring the authentic spirit of Japanese jujutsu to London. These deep-rooted connections allow our members to travel regularly to Japan to perform at the country’s most prestigious venues, while ensuring every student and black belt is officially registered with the JBA in Tokyo.
