Grilled Rice Ball (Yaki-onigiri)


Serves: 2

  • 200g cooked Japanese rice
  • 2 tsp red miso
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • some nori or shiso leaves (optional)


  1. Wet the palms of your hands. Take half the rice and make it into a triangular shape. Make another ball with the remaining rice.
  2. Mix the miso with the sugar. Spread it on the surface of the rice balls and grill both sides until browned.
  3. Wrap in nori or shiso leaves.
