Rice Pizza

A new way to enjoy Japanese rice, which makes the most of its stickiness. Use up any left-overs to create the topping!


Serves: 2

  • 400g short grain rice, cooked
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce (or 1 1/2 tbsp tomato ketchup)
  • 60g grated cheese
  • chopped vegetables (green pepper, onion, sweetcorn, etc)
  • chopped meat or fish (ham, sausage, anchovies, etc)


  1. Place the rice in a bowl and knead it with your hands until it becomes sticky. If it is not sticky enough, add a little butter.
  2. Spread the rice onto a piece of foil or a baking sheet and put it down to make a thin, round shape like a pizza base.
  3. Spread the tomato sauce over the rice and add the vegetables, meat and cheese. Place in a heated oven or under the grill until the cheese starts to bubble and brown.
